On tap at the Brick Store. Pours a pale red with a small off-white head. The aroma is pleasant, with plenty of floral, citrus, and pine hops. The taste is amazingly sweet up front, but gives way quickly to strong bitter and sour taste that doesn’t go away. After the first few sips, all I could taste was the sour aftertaste. Overall, this is a challenging and very unique beer

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark orange-brown color with a small tan head. The aroma was sour, tangy and lightly sweet with strong fruity and light floral and piney hops. Fairly complex on the nose. The flavor was tangy, nutty, dry and lightly bitter. There was a strong floral, piney and fruity hop presence that coated the tongue and would not leave. There were undertones of nutty malts and faint caramel. There were some off flavor that were difficult to identify and the beer was way too dry for my taste. The body was fairly thick. Interesting.

Bottle at home ... thanks to Ken for this bonus ... hazy dark copper ... big foam head ... sweet woody toffee malts ...sweet caramel ... very oddd ... quite woody ... lots of hops ... some of that american pale ale hop ... lots of pine ..oily ... ok but nothing to write home about. Bottle at home .. golden amber .. thin white lacing ... soft fruit .. juicy floral fruit nose ... long passion .. big sweet caramel toffee fruit .. big spangles 3.1

Tap at MBG Summer Festival. Poured an orangish amber with an off-white head. Amazingly hopped aroma with a quite distinct piney aroma. There was a moment of slight sweetness at the beginning before the intense hops took over with a mainly piney flavor.

12 ounce bottle from Wine Warehouse in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a clear reddish brown color with a medium head. Decent head retention and lacing. Very bitter resiny hop aroma with some floral notes as well as toffee and berries. Taste is citrus, berries and other fruity notes from the hops with a lingering bitterness that grows as you drink the beer. Lots of resin and pine in there as well. Toffeeish malts and nutty notes lead to a nicely balanced beer. Bitter and sweet. Full bodied and slightly sticky. Very nice.

12 oz bottle purchased at Lukas in Kansas City, Missouri. Pour is reddish golden orange with nice settling and a 1/2 inch off white head. Sticky lacing left behind as the beer falls. Very unique color, I can’t remember a beer that looked quite like this one. Aroma of big resin pine hop bitterness, along with an earthy peanut shell aroma. Some citrus sweet and light alcohol in the back. Really fresh smelling. Actually pretty subdued for such a ginormous beer. Taste is big resin hops, though not nearly as bittering as I was expecting from the nose. The fruit sweetness is honey apple, and is strong and dry. Behind the fruit sweetness is a warming and lingering alcohol presence. It really doesn’t stick out too much, but is evident. Very much in the background is some toasty malt. Balance is way towards the hops in this one. The palate is medium to heavy, coats the mouth yet is dry and clean in the finish. More of the dry hop resin lingers with the alcohol in the finish. Alcohol really comes out as it warms. The honey really never cloys. Well constructed beer, I suppose, just not entirely my thing.
