Founders most complex, most innovative, most feared and yet most revered ale produced. Massive in complexity the huge malt character balances the insane amount of alpha's used to create this monster. More IBU's than any brewery has documented, more than you would believe and dry-hopped for twenty-six days straight with a combination of 10 hop varieties. Dangerously drinkable and deliciously evil. We dare you to dance with the Devil.

I got this in a trade with joe1510. Thanks Joe!

This pours a clear amber red with a 1 finger head of foam.(vigorous pour) Plenty of lacing and so far, good head retention.

The smell is hugely of citrus hops with a noticeable side order of sweet malt.

The taste is a well balanced blend of grapefruit and orange citrus hops and caramel malt with maybe the malt having just the wee bit more presence, especially in the finish. Very thickish mouthfeel here bordering on syrupy.

A few more sips in, (and yes the alcohol is quite warming during and after the swallow but we're talking 13%abv) the malt really asserts itself as it should in a well made example of the style. I've had some DIPAs that take it *too* far to the malty side and they were overly sweet and cloying and some that didn't have enough of a malt presence and were overly hoppy. This one finds a very happy medium and I thank Founders for that. Very deicious drop indeed!

Bottle, 355 ml, courtesy of Max. Shared with him and rest of the crew. Pours dark orange to amber with off-white head. Caramel, malty, moderate hoppy, ripe citrus, pine. Quite sweet with lasting bitterness. This one seemed a bit old and on its way to barley wine land.

Bottle at home, aged for about a year. Clear dark amber color. Medium size, dark yellow bubbly head. Big tropical fruity hop aromas, caramel, some booze evident. Similar taste with a lot of punch. Resinous finish.

Not sure what defines the line between a triple IPA and a hyper-hopped barleywine, because I’d easily classify Devil Dancer as the latter in a blind tasting. That being said, it’s still a pretty delicious beer, big and malty as hell, thick streams of caramel and dark fruits backed up by a vicious citric/pine hop attack. Clingy, resinous finish retains the initial sweetness, but never grows cloy. Citrus pine nose doesn’t hint at the massive malt presence, and the pour comes out a dark red-brown with a modest head and tons o’ lace. Not hot despite the ABV. Good brew.

Hazy, red brown beer with mediun light beige head. Aroma is very strong with malts, caramel and wood. Taste has malts, grape, wood and alcohol. Strong citrus bitterness, which still stays in balance. Full body. Nice, quite special.
