What a fun blonde beer this is. The nose is deliciously malty. The overall flavour is fruity, with hints of sweetness and a warm alcohol glow, which tapers off into a slightly bitter finish. We launched this classic beer in 1983, making it our oldest high-fermentation beer, which is re-fermented in the bottle.

*rating overgezet 2016* Het is een goudgeel bier met een dun wit schuim. Het heeft een moutige wat alocohol achtige geur. De smaak is moutig en zacht zoet.

Frothy head. Citric aroma. Sweetish, fruity flavor with orange. Just a bit yeasty, some alcohol present. Well made beer, but lacks complexity.

0.33 l bottle from 'Rudat', best before July 2020. Almost clear, golden with a large, frothy, almost stable, white head. Sweetish, gently yeasty-spicy, floral and slightly fruity-grassy aroma of clove, banana, lemon peel and some grass. Moderately sweet, slightly bitter, gently yeasty-spicy, moderately floral and a bit fruity-grassy taste of banana, clove, vanilla, some grass and a touch of lemon peel, followed by a short, gently bitter, yeasty-spicy, quite grassy finish. Medium body, fairly effervescent mouthfeel, lively carbonation. Simple but pleasant Belgian Ale, pretty hoppy and less sweet than expected, like a restrained Duvel.

The strong abv balanced with the the malt, while remaining light and trying to be flavourless is actually quite impressive. Hamburg
