With a rich amber hue and a mild fruit forward aroma, our American-style Barleywine begins with a bold kick. A robust malt profile of caramel, light fruit, and biscuits marry with heaps of Pacific Northwest hops for balance. It finishes with a refined warming glow. It's great fresh but will certainly age with grace.

Shared with Josh during our trip to Festival of Dark Arts 2026. Vintage 2015.
Aroma: caramel, hops, moderately sweet, bold.
Taste: along the same lines, a bit dusty, resinous and quite bitter.
Overall: good American bw, but too bitter for me.

2013 bottle. And it iza smooth bitter bomb. Thick, cream colored head on a Deep Amber cloudy hue. Fairly well-balanced but no doubt it’s a big barleywine. Aged well

2015 sample at the Oakshire Public House. Pours a clear dark amber color with a medium off-white head that diminishes gradually to a film. Partial rings of lacing. Roasted malt, fruit and hops in the nose. Full-bodied with flavors of caramel malt, ripe fruit and earthy hops. The finish is mildly boozy with a malty aftertaste. Above average overall.

Sampled from the tap at the taproom. Pours a hazy deep amber with a tan head that dissipates to the edges slowly. Aroma has lots of bread and sweet grain note with just a touch of toffee underlying. Flavor has sweet grains and bread with a bit of toffee and booze supporting.

Bottle, 22oz, at Både &. Vintage 2014. More or less clear in the glass, light amber in colour and with a small off-white head that lasts. Piney, resiny aroma with citrus zest and a little malty touch. It’s full bodied, quite dry and with a nice carbonation level. A bit sharp on the edges, both on bitterness and alcohol, but sure nice. There’s a little malty touch in the back of the flavor, but piney, citrusy hops dominates, both initially and in the finish. Not bad this one, but a bit unharmonic. 150821

2013 vintage 22oz bomber, courtesy riversideAK, thanks Alex, pours with a near clear deep copper to amber body that supports a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up smooth plums and brown sugar coated raisins to go along with a light spicy woodiness and some earthiness. The taste has a lot going on as the age is pulling the hops toward the sweetness. I get smooth sweet malts blended into blunted pine and floral hops. To midway it gets a bit boozy and resiny with hops. Into the finish modest levels of spicy woody hops join booze and blunted malt sweetened pine hops to help close out the experience.

Bottle from Haggen’s Grocery, Burlington; vintage 2013
Dark amber color; creamy head. Very nice aroma, lots of hops, quite sweaty. Good body strength, although the alcohol perception is quite strong; the malt flavor is nice, not the deepest though, with caramel and light fudge touch; the hopping is very resiny, the bitterness is high.
Very good Barleywine.
