Beware, this is a BIG beer. Brimming with luscious roasted coffee and chocolate malt flavours which are balanced by a brisk bitterness and bold freshness from the hops. If you’re feeling politically incorrect try it with your favourite cigar, or a dram of your best single malt whisky. Or, if your tooth is sweeter, why not jump in at the deep end with the most decadent dessert of all; half a bottle in a glass with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream on top (beer geeks like us know it as the Imperial Stout Float). Or simply enjoy it on its own as a decadent dessert or night cap - the perfect winter warmer! If you don’t already know the history of Russian Imperial Stouts please check it out on the internet, it’s a good story. But remember, although based on that century-old classic style, this beer is a very modern interpretation, like all our beers!

Bottle. Pours pitch black with a large brown creamy white head that dissipates slowly with nice lacing. Aroma is rich with coffee, roasted malt, chocolate, molasses, and dried fruit. Flavor is coffee and bitter dark chocolate, with malt, raisin and molasses bringing medium sweetness. Finish is medium bitter. Not quite as rich on the palate as I would have expected.

500 ml. bottle poured in to a snifter. Pitch black with a dense, light tan head. Sweet and complex aroma with chocolate, roasted malts, coffee, brown sugar, cocoa, vanilla and liquorice. Flavour is light sweet with roasted malts, caramel, chocolate, liquorice and coffee. Medium to full body, with an oily texture. Long lasting finish with a roasted bitterness, lots of chocolate, vanilla and some coffee. Another excellent beer from 8 wired!

Bottle. Pitch black beer with a strong brown head. The aroma is lightly coffee roasted, and the flavour is deeply bitter with an expresso coffee finish. Overall a nice beer but a fairly average strong stout. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

500ml bottle from Bierkompass
Pours pitch black with a foamy brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, molasses, coffee, wood and hints of vanilla. Taste is malty and slightly roasty with sweet vanilla notes and molasses. Finish is roasty with some crisp bitterness. Full bodied, heavy and quite well balanced imperial stout.

16/VI/2012 - 50cl bottle from Geers (Oostakker) @ home - batch 39 - BB: VIII/14 (2012-633) Thanks to Erwin for sharing the bottle!
Black beer, small beige to brown head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: lots of mocha, caramel, coffee, some spices. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: lots of caramel in a sweet start, sugary, mocha, bit sourish edge to it, some fudge, liquorish, little bitter. Aftertaste: mocha, caramel, sour berries, lots of bitter hops. I like the dry ending that compensates for all the sweetness.

500ml bottle. Pitch black with average firm creamy lacing brown head. Roasty dark malty, dark chocolate aroma, liquorice, soya sauce, minimal alcohol note, remnants of grain and hay. Smooth, soft, velvet palate. Dry hoppy as well as dry roasty notes, dark chocolate in taste. Sticky, dry roasty, minimally alcoholic finish. Wow! In combination with Islay whiskey and chocolate cookies: Paradise regained.
