Bottle - Milk chocolate, cognac, vanilla and booze. Jet black with tiny brown head. Lots of chocolate, cognac, vanilla and a bitterness that balances the sweetness. Alcohol burn in the finish.

Pure art. Starts of with an overwhelming warm taste of vanilla and roasted coffee. After that, you get an ever evolving aftertaste with moccha, wood and dark chocolate.

(Bottle, 0.33 l - #1794 - bottled on 05 Dec 2012, courtesy of baggio, thanks, 20130816) The beer poured black. Its head was small and almost white. Aroma had roasted malts, burnt malts, hops and wood. Palate was full bodied and dry with medium carbonation. Flavours were roasted malts, burnt malts, hops, coffee, vanilla, wood and bitterness. Afteraste was roasty, woody and bitter. A very good example of adding wood to the beer: the wood was there but it didn’t hide the original beer only complemented it. Although I still think using the soaked chips is cheating.

180mL bottle, sent from Glouglouburp (thanks a lot, Dany), pours black with a small ring of tan head. Nose is very complex, full of cognac, wood, roasted malt and a touch of dark chocolate. Flavour blends heavy notes of roasted malt with the cognac very well. The cognac is immediately noticeable, and the wood and roasted malt notes kick in later and linger. Quite deep and complex, with the barrels not overdone in any way. I prefer the Misto and Wild Turkey B.A. versions, but this is surely excellent.

Bottle, many thanks to Bierkoning. Black color with thick brown head. Aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, peat wood. taste starts sweet with caramel, dark fruits, roasted malt, than chocolate, coffee bitterness arrives together with peat, wood, cognac. Nice dark chocolate, coffee bitterness in finish. Alcohol is dangerously hidden. Extremely enjoyable sipper.

Another jewel shared from bottle by Cuso, many thanks. Aroma really strong wood, whisky peat, rather sweet. Dark chocolate. Colour is black. Taste is really complex, changing in time. First layer is sweet, caramel, dark chocolate, dark fruits, wood. Second wave is peat and whisky. After a while coffee roasted flavour appears. Full body, very long duration of taste, perfect. Alcohol not noticeable at all. Beer champion.

Bottled Nov. 2012, the number of the beast is 1059. A black beer with a beautiful, almost medium and brown head. Aroma is powerfull, black coffee, liquirice, some chocolate, hitn of strenght of alcohol and salt liquirice. Taste is also powerfull and greatly balanced, liquirice, sweetness, roastiness and coffee. After the beginning a salt liquirice is more dominating with bitterness, that dries a mouth. A aftertaste is long, salt liquirice and some herbs, hint of cognac and wood, also warming alcohol in the background. Full bodied, smooth, some lighting carbonation, nice to drink. A complex and powerfull beer with the great balance.
