This is an aggressive beer. You probably won’t like it. It is quite doubtful that you have the taste or sophistication to be able to appreciate an ale of this quality and depth. We would suggest that you stick to safer and more familiar territory—maybe something with a multimillion-dollar ad campaign aimed at convincing you it’s made at an independent brewery, or one that implies that their tasteless seltzer / fizzy yellow beer / whatever-the-hell will give you more sex appeal. Perhaps you think multimillion-dollar ad campaigns make all that junk taste better. Perhaps you’re mouthing your words as you read this.
We believe that pandering to the lowest common denominator represents the height of tyranny—a virtual form of keeping the consumer barefoot, stupid & led by the nose social media. Brought forth upon an unsuspecting public in 1997, Arrogant Bastard Ale openly challenged the tyrannical overlords who were brazenly attempting to keep the people chained in the shackles of poor taste. One glance around and it’s glaringly obvious: they’re winning...as of now. Yet we will not stop. Ever. Since the very beginning, Arrogant Bastard Ale has reveled in its unprecedented and uncompromising celebration of intensity. There have been many nods to Arrogant Bastard Ale…even outright attempts to copy it…but only one can ever embody the true nature of Liquid Arrogance! Hated By Many. Loved By Few.

Shared can at Arne & Ulrike?s. Unfortunately almost at best before date, brewed in Berlin. Pours reddish brown with beige head. Aroma of pine needles, sherry, caramel, citrus, cherries. Tastes sweet with a good load of bitterness. Medium bodied, bitter finish.

Tap at Ma Che Siete Venuti a Fa in Rome-Italy. Reddish amber clear, tick ivory foam. Nose: mild notes of mou, rich amber maltiness, a bit caramel. Mouth is East Amber, clean, with a pungent and peppery aftertaste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

50 cl can, brewed in Berlin. Poured in to a Snifter. Dark amber colour with a medium sized, lightly tanned head. Fruity aroma with citrus, resins, caramel malts, toasted notes and pines. Taste is very bitter. Medium to full body with an oily texture and a soft carbonation. Finishes lasting dry and bitter with citrus, resin and pines. Nothing but subtle, as the writings on the can also suggests. Rather hopforward, which I like.

Canned 500ml. -Courtesy of and shared with Marko, thanks. Nice amber/brown coloured, medium sized beige head that stays for a while, light dried fruits in the nose. Sweet malty, caramel, hops, dried fruits and alcohol with touch of herbs and wood in the finish. Good beer but nothing thrilling here.

On tap at B33R Gallery. World class you say. Well, it’s not bad after all. Very bitter and hoppy. Now trying to remember my last double but whatever I think it was not so aggressive. You bloody basrard!

Berlin version, 0.5l can, ffrom Ludo, shared with ogivlado. Dry, heavy aroma, woody, some oniony and fruity hoppiness. caramel, initially too dry, gets better as it opens up. Taste... woody, earthy, slightly nutty dry maltiness, a touch of caramel, ashy, herbal hoppiness, onion. Full, well balanced really, but I’m not thrilled. Medium bitter finish. I might not be worthy, but this isn’t worthy of a rave review from me either, so I guess we’re even.

Can from Wine Rack, Burpham. The EU version. Hops and malts, slightly pungent - not as strong an aroma as I was expecting. A medium chestnut. Light beige head, creamy but it soon recedes. Bitter, but the hops are never over the top. Medium bodied. Oily. A lot of carbonation going on there. Long but restrained finish. I like that warming sensation you get from a beer of this ABV but not really getting much of that. I like it but this mutha is not as up in my face as I was expecting.
