This is an aggressive beer. You probably won’t like it. It is quite doubtful that you have the taste or sophistication to be able to appreciate an ale of this quality and depth. We would suggest that you stick to safer and more familiar territory—maybe something with a multimillion-dollar ad campaign aimed at convincing you it’s made at an independent brewery, or one that implies that their tasteless seltzer / fizzy yellow beer / whatever-the-hell will give you more sex appeal. Perhaps you think multimillion-dollar ad campaigns make all that junk taste better. Perhaps you’re mouthing your words as you read this.
We believe that pandering to the lowest common denominator represents the height of tyranny—a virtual form of keeping the consumer barefoot, stupid & led by the nose social media. Brought forth upon an unsuspecting public in 1997, Arrogant Bastard Ale openly challenged the tyrannical overlords who were brazenly attempting to keep the people chained in the shackles of poor taste. One glance around and it’s glaringly obvious: they’re winning...as of now. Yet we will not stop. Ever. Since the very beginning, Arrogant Bastard Ale has reveled in its unprecedented and uncompromising celebration of intensity. There have been many nods to Arrogant Bastard Ale…even outright attempts to copy it…but only one can ever embody the true nature of Liquid Arrogance! Hated By Many. Loved By Few.

Pours brown with a fading head.Nose shows sweet rich malt, caramel, piny and resinous hops.Similar rich, malty and bitter flavours. Comes off a little abrasive, could use a bit more sweet clean malt.

From a bottle. Pours dark copper with trace of white head and light carbonation. Faint malty aroma, with an initial malt sweetness followed on by piney hops bite. Bitter lingering finish.

Poured from 1 pint 6 fl oz bottle. Clear, copper brown with beige head. Aroma of toasted malt, slightly nutty. Taste of resinous hops, quite bitter finish. Medium plus body. Good mouthfeel, but a little overwhelmed with the resinous-ness.

22 oz bottle from the Arrogant Bastard Box poured into a nonic pint glass. Clear amber with two fingers of beige head. Aromas of caramel, toffee, floral hops. Tastes of caramel, toffee, pine, floral notes, good amount of bitter hops. Like a cross between a brown ale and an IPA. Medium body with a dry finish.

On tap at Tilt, Oslo. Slightly hazy deep amber with an off-white head. Malty and caramelly aroma with lots of hops. Pine, citrus herbs and hints of cat piss. Fairly sweet with nice hoppy and fruity flavours and bitter finish. Balanced and very enjoyable. A bit too much on the sweet side for my taste, but still very nice!

Poured from a 12 oz bottle with a Best By date of 11/17/2014. Aroma is sweet with some nuttiness, moderate toasted bread, caramel and toffee. Moderate hop notes with pine resin and grapefruit. Light fruit esters. Pours a cloudy, copper, burnt amber with some brown hues and a small, light tan head that recedes fairly quickly to the edges. Medium light lacing and medium legs. Flavor has a light sweetness with some caramel and toasted bread with a light nuttiness. Light toffee notes as well. Moderately strong to strong bitterness. Medium light hop flavor, mostly pine resin but also some grapefruit. Some light alcohol notes. Mouthfeel is medium to medium full bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, an alright beer but way maltier than the hoppy beers I prefer to drink. Malt profile isn’t too bad, and the hops work with it well. Is suppose for what it is, its pretty nice.

Bastante buena, increíble final amargo seco duradero. Gran cerveza.
