Bottle, 2015 vintage. Dark brown color with a red shine, and thick creamy head, slowly disappearing. Aroma is immediately vinous, brandy, berries. taste is a mix of sour and sweet notes, perfectly balanced, vinousfruity, lactic acid. Quite low carbonation, full body, viscous/oily texture. The 13% alcohol is really well hidden, very complex beer but with quite an easy drinkability. Delicious.

2012 Vintage Bottle at home from a trade with Antoine of Malt Attacks, 23rd November 19. This was bottled in September 2013, 6 years old. Pours a dark chestnut brown red, a neat rim of head. Aroma is funk, balsamic, wood, vinous. Taste is greatly complex, vineous, damp wood, funk, dark fruit, booze soaked raisins, Sweet and sour, itβs powerful and moreish. Lovely aged and classical Belgian brew

Bottle, brewed in 2015.Color: Murky reddish brown, very thin off-white head. Aroma: Balsamico vinegar, red wine, toffee hints. Taste: Over medium sour, Balsamico vinegar, nicely combined with moderate to medium sweet flavours, vinuous red wine, hints of caramel and toffee and dark cherries. Oak wood, tannins, dry and astringent mouthfeel. Very nice complexity, a lot of flavours to explore. Pretty strong taste of red wine at the finish. Alcohol is well hidden. Over medium body, low carbonation. Great one.

Pretty iconic example of a modern Flanders oud bruin. Heavy, almost vinegary, sourness and lots of wood. Dry, puckering. Low on the carbonation. Once you get past the sourness some red fruityness appears, almost vinous. Amazingly complex and flavourful.

330ml bottle. Hazy, dark brown colour with average to huge, frothy, slowly osteoporosing, minimally lacing, off-white head; all settled, a thin, creamy layer of tiny off-white bubbles remains permanently. Fruity, woody, chocolately dark malty, spicy and slightly vinous aroma, notes of morello, blue grapes, some plum, cocoa, nutmeg, cinnamon, balsamico, a mild funky touch. Taste is tart, fruity, spicy, dry oaky, tannic vinous and minimally sweet, chocolately dark malty, notes of morello, blue grapes, blackcurrant, a touch of plum, some balsamico, nutmeg, cinnamon, cocoa, all around a sour, biting vinegar-like main line. Watery texture, prickly carbonation, astringent palate.

2009 bottle at home bought some time somewhere in Belgium. Red brown colour, small golden bubbly head. Aroma is fruity, dark, vinous, bit of brown sugar sweetness, maybe marzipan. Taste is nice. Pleasant sourness, no hint of the 13%. Wood, brown sugar again, maybe bit of cherry in the background. Nice fruitiness. Nice spritziness from the sourness. Really doesn't taste this strong! Lovely from de dolle as always. Rerate, 2013 version. Great fruity aroma, bit sour. Great taste, vinous, woody, nice sourness, can't feel booze, so fruity, almonds at end.

2004 version. Orange red brown color, like old wine. Glorious vinous aroma with wood, apple and cherry. Upcoming sourness. Very fruity and vinous. Aple, grapes, wood, rosted malt, caramel, cherry. Obvious alcohol. Very complex, with the greatness of Oerbier 15 years or so ago, but more alcoholic. A big beer in all senses of the word.
