Released the same year as Viaemilia at the end of March 2007, A.F.O. was our second creation. The history of this beer dates back to when Giovanni Campari, brewmaster and founder of the brewery, first came into contact with the new and irresistible character of American hops. Back home, he decided to make the Ale of his dreams, which expressed a complex bouquet, fascinating but never usual. He traveled between England and Germany, visiting hop growers and experimenting, carrying out a research into the olfactory territory of hops which finally materialized in the current A.F.O.

Bottle. Amber with an inch of white head thatโ€™s never less than a coat. Complex hop aroma with grapefruit, orange, flowers, tropical fruits and spices. Some bread and caramel too. Light, creamy texture, highish carbonation. Sweet with caramel, bread, peaches, oranges. Spices, pine and grapefruit lead into a fairly bitter finish. Like this a lot but bet itโ€™s better in situ.

Bottle. Pretty amber-red color, bubbly head. Minerally nose, grass, light caramel malt, risin, prune. Flavor of caramel, raisin, minerals, pine, a bit of coffee, with a sour edge. Ok, and original, but too metallic.

330ml bottle. Cloudy dark amber with huge frothy off-white to white head. Fine balanced hop aroma, citrus and a spicy note. Taste is more dark malt dominated with a decent hay- or chaff-like dryness. Nice.

Bottle from Open Baladin, shared in some park in Rome. Aroma is like barley tea. Taste is very malty, like spiced wort. A bit unbalanced.
