500ml bottle, thanks to Finn for this gift at Yuletide. Fast declining, beige head. Deep dark body with a shiny ruby tint. Moderate smell of liquorice and dark malts. Earthy malts, notes of dark spices and added by sweet liquorice. Soft and dry in the mouth. Nice Baltic Porter, however, a bit too sweet for a higher score (at home, Tromsø 29.12.2010).

Bottle. (thanks SaintMatty) Almost black with a medium tan head. Sweet aroma of roasted malt, milk chocolate, some coffee, syrup and some fruits. The taste was also sweet with milk chocolate, licorice, some alcohol, some butter and sugar. Medium body and medium carbonation. Dry finish with taste of roasted malt. An ok beer but not the world’s best porter.

0.5l bottle from a Rimi supermarket, 7% brewed in Tallinn. Very dark red, almost black body, tan thick head that went away relatively slow. Light nose, raisins, some coffee, chalk and dark malt. Sweet and salty taste, coffee, some smoked ham notes. A bit unbalanced really.

(Bottle. Thanks to SaintMatty) Pitch black colour with hints of ruby when seen through light. Lasting brown head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of coffee, liquorice, dark chocolate, dark rye bread and hints of dried fruit. Malty, roasted taste with coffee, dark bread, chocolate and liquorice. Slightly vinous hints with a touch of dried fruit, port and raisins towards the end. More than medium body, fairly sweet. Some coffee bitterness comes through in the finish. Smooth and rounded mouthfeel. Tasty and well balanced Baltic porter.

50 cL bottle. Pours pitch black with a dense, yet somewhat fluffy and tan head. Hardroasted malt aroma and with a light alcohol presence.Chocolate, hard roasted malt and surprisingly sweet flavoured. Holds a minor metallic house character. Sweet malty finish with a lasting chocolate impression. Medium bodied mouthfeel.

Very dark beer with light beige head. Aroma is roasted, slightly sweet, slightly sour. Flavour is balanced, quite roasted, some liquirice and hint of chocolate, first slightly sweet flavour that dries in the end. Medium or full-bodied beer and nicely oily to drink. Saku Porter is typical baltic porter without disappointments, and also quite complex.
