Hazy amber beer, good cream colour head. Palate is airy with modest fine carbonation. Malts are tangy caramel cream, only mildly sweet. Fair bit of bitterish pine and bitter citric peel under it. Light finish. A slightly harsh DIPA but decent.

750ml bottle. Slightly cloudy, orangey amber colour with huge, thick, frothy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, sulphur coloured off-white head. Intense hoppy aroma, resinous, citrusy fruity, some grapefruit, orange, bitter orange, tangerine, a touch of pineapple, some liquorice. Taste is moderately sweet malty, caramel, almond, bitter hoppy counterweight with fruity notes of mandarine, orange; a meek soapy touch reminding of body lotion with fruit aroma flashes up in between. If what we’ve got here were really giants’ shoulders, then Pliny the Elder would have to be honoured to outshine Bernard of Chartres resp. Abner (Shimony) to outshine Robert K. Merton. Well, obviously that doesn’t make sense. It rather seems to me that Flying Monkeys themselves are only side by side with Caribous and other beneficiaries.

Single big bottle from the LCBO without the typical Flying Monkeys box. Pours a clear deep amber colour with a frothy warm head, great retention and lots of sticky-foam lace. Aromas of apples with some alcohol notes and grass. Lots of hops and bitterness for an Impy with such a high alcohol content. Flavours of grassy hops with some citrus zest. Hints of apples. The bitterness seems to get stronger and stronger in the finish. A good Imperial IPA with the alcohol percentage, but the bitterness of a normal IPA. Well done !!

Bottle: Poured an amber color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of caramelized sugar with loads of citrus hoppy notes with some nice floral notes. Taste is also dominated by some sweet caramelized malt with some dominant citrus hoppy notes with nice flora undertone touch and some light booze is also noticeable. Body is pretty full with good carbonation with some alcohol being apparent. Nice hops flavours but a bit too sweet for my own taste.

750mL bottle, sent from wilco (thanks a lot, Mike), pours an opaque cloudy orange with a medium beige head. Aroma brings out lots of resinous hops, some pine and a thick caramel malt backbone. Flavour is exactly the same, with a big bitter resinous hop quality, with a touch of pine, and a thick caramel malt backing. The bitter resinous hops linger on and on.

Bottle. Pours golden with a offwhite head. Aroma of malt, light caramel, sweet fruit, peach, light pine. Flavor is rather sweet, malty, caramel, fruity hops, light pine, alcohol. Medium to full body, soft carbonation, warming alcoholic finish. Quite nice, but abit to much alcohol. 180714

Bottle from the brewery. Pours a slightly hazy orange amber with a fluffy two finger tan head that fades slowly and leaves some sticky lace. Aroma is dominated by citrus and pine with a bit of roast but also a bit musty. A touch of sweet caramel in the start but quickly turns to a nice citrus bitterness that can’t quite cover the alcohol. Mouth is medium full and sticky with a lasting bitter finish. Good, but I was hoping for more.
