2018 vintage, draught at MBCC 2018, blue session. Many thanks to Werckmeister!
Black body, with a small, creamy, coffee-colored head.
Aroma of coffee, toast, bitter chocolate, liquorice, soy sauce, some tobacco.
Tastes quite similar, with more dark fruits, some toffee.
Full, oily mouthfeel, with a moderate carbonation.
Finishes roasty, moderate dry, a bit sweet, with soy sauce, toffee, liquorice, wood.
Tasty. A straight, robust Imperial Stout, with quite a lot of roastiness, but enough chocolatey sweetness for a good balance. Not on par with the barrel aged variant I've had, but still tasty stuff.

22 oz bottle poured, enjoyed during a blind barrel aged beers tasting. Always gotta throw in a beer that isn't barrel aged to see if it can be identified by the group. Why not make it a Dark Lord? To be honest, my novice beer mind never even looked into whether Dark Lord is barrel aged as a regular beer. Novice here. Doesn't matter though, the beer is good. A seriously huge thanks to prufrockstar for the bottle. One of the finest folks I've had the pleasure of meeting on this site. Cheers to you, my friend! Green sparkling wax, so a 2017 I'd have to assume. No indication for me during the blind that this was a non barrel aged entry. I picked up plenty of bourbon notes. I suppose you don't need a barrel to have bourbon notes come through. Either that or you just need to be enjoying great beers in a blind tasting, expecting it. Dense, near black pour. Rich chocolate forward nose. Sweet for sure, but it's not enough to turn me off of it. Has a vanilla like creaminess to it. Reminded me of a dessert stout, so revealing this bottle was quite a surprise. Toasty malt, cinnamon, coffee. Quite bitter in the end as well. The first time I tried Dark Lord was with Tcon down at a little pizza restaurant in Seattle several years ago. The owner had pulled one out of the cellar to enjoy with some friends and wouldn't stop talking about it. After a couple questions from a couple of beer lovers that had only wished to have tried it, she mentioned that she had about a quarter bottle left, but that it had been sitting for hours and hours. Didn't care. Was good under those conditions. Even better in a fine setting like this tasting. A really enjoyable beer for sure. Hope this isn't my last experience with it. Thanks again, Chris!

[1/2] Bottle at home massive thanks to Maakun. Burgundy wax/2015. Black, no head. Oh boy. So sweet. Pancake syrup. Honey dipped rye bread. Cinnamon, roasted bell pepper, maple syrup. Massive ChocoToff experience, light tobacco...
