Cherrywood Stout

750 ml bottle into snifter; no bottle dating, but was just released. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky tan head with awesome retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, nutty medium roast coffee, lightly tart cherries/skin, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, toffee, fudge, whiskey, toasted oak, and dark/brown bread; with light notes of dark fruit, molasses, smoke, char, roast/toast/oaky earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, coffee, whiskey barrel, and light-moderate cherry notes; with great strength. Taste of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, nutty medium roast coffee, lightly tart cherries/skin, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, toffee, fudge, whiskey, toasted oak, and dark/brown bread; with light notes of dark fruit, molasses, smoke, char, roast/toast/oaky earthiness. Light roast/char bitterness, whiskey/oak spiciness, and fruit tang/tartness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, nutty medium roast coffee, cherries, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, toffee, fudge, whiskey, toasted oak, dark/brown bread, light molasses/smoke/char, and roast/toast/oaky earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, coffee, whiskey barrel, and light-moderate cherry flavors; with a great roasted bitter/sweet and whiskey/oak spiciness balance; with zero cloying/acrid flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from roast/char bitterness and whiskey/oak spiciness. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky, and lightly sticky/chalky/tangy/tannic mouthfeel that is great. A bit on the thin side for the ABV, but nothing to complain about. Mildly increasing warmth of 11%, with zero barrel booziness lingering after the finish. Overall this is a fantastic BBA imperial coffee stout! All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, coffee, whiskey barrel, and light-moderate cherry flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the big ABV. Extremely rich malt/coffee complexity, outstanding barrel integration/balance, and not overdone on cherries at all. More of a complementing level of fruit. A highly enjoyable offering. Liked this a bit more than the base beer.
