Taster flight at Rusty Rail. Hazy golden pour, ring of white head. Aroma is peanut butter. Taste delivers banana flavors from the weizen yeast, making it taste like...you guessed it...a peanut butter covered banana! Interesting flavors, but I don't think I could drink too much of it. Dry

12 ounce bottle from Giant Eagle. Pours a clear yellow hue with a small white head. A big, no huge, nose of earthy peanut butter. Smooth, somehow this works, big peanut butter, husky malts, clear hefe, bigger banana esters. Solid.

Nnitro sample at Prohibition. Hazy pale golden color with a medium thick frothy white head that diminishes gradually to a dense film. Sticky strings of lace. Aroma of peanut, wheat and malt. Medium body with flavors of roasted nuts, chocolate malt and wheat. The finish is roasty with a peanutty aftertaste. Decent overall.

Bottle: Hazy, light yellow/gold with a white head. Aroma of peanut butter, wheat. Taste is nice....sweet peanut butter, wheat malt, a hint of banana. This one is really nice.....more than expected. Very smooth with a nice balance of the peanut and hefe tones. Very enjoyable.

12 ounce bottle into weizen glass, no bottle dating. Pours very hazy golden yellow color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with amazing retention, that reduces to a large cap that lasts. Thick soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Amazing appearance. Aromas of big peanut butter, banana, bubblegum, clove, pear, apple, light pepper, wheat, cracker, white bread, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, peanut butter, and pale/wheat malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big peanut butter, banana, bubblegum, clove, pear, apple, light pepper, wheat, cracker, white bread, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light peppery yeast spiciness and herbal/grassy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of peanut butter, banana, bubblegum, clove, pear, apple, light pepper, wheat, cracker, white bread, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, peanut butter, and pale/wheat malt flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and zero cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from bitter/spiciness and carbonation. Medium-high carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 8%. Overall this is an excellent flavored imperial hefeweizen! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, peanut butter, and pale/wheat malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV with the mellowly bitter/spicy/drying finish. Tastes just like the PB/Banana sandwich as I hoped. Awesome balance of authentic PB, German yeast complexity, and pale/wheat malts. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

Bottle. Peanut butter, banana, clove, wheat malt, and hay aroma. Cloudy golden yellow with nice head. Moderately sweet banana, orange, peanut butter, clove, wheat malt, and mildly bitter hay flavor. Nice body. Works well - Elvis would approve.

Refrigerated 12 oz. brown bottle poured into a glass. Hazy golden with small white head. Aroma is peanut butter, medium body, lower carbonation, and little lacing. Taste is peanut butter, clove, and some banana. Quite different, but I like it.

So, peanut butter bananas and imperial hefe? Let's see. From a bottle this stuff pours like a cloudy hefe and smells somewhat like peanut butter. First taste is oddly peanut butter laced with a high alky wheat beer, not sure if it qualifies as a german hefe, because there is quite a large amount of that bitter wheat ale thing coming thru. Yes, each swig is volatile high octane wheat ale with a medicinal backbone of peanut butter flavors. Just enough odd peanut in there for you to recognize it. A little difficult in the end and I don't think the banana thing ever comes thru. But hey, if you like peanut butter beers, you need to try this unique brew. For me? Could not drink 2 of these.

Sampled on draft this beer poured a murky yellow color with a large foamy white head that left decent lacing. The aroma was strong peanut butter, lightly sweet with yeast and salt notes. The flavor was a bit tart and yeasty with faint peanut butter and a bit of wheat. Medium length finish. Medium body. Interesting.
