Red Bud is no exception to our myriad beers with personality disorders. A directionally challenged copper wheat ale, it's hopped just enough to balance the distinct wheatiness.

Bottle: Hazy amber-orange with a huge, slow, off-white head. Sweetened orange aroma. Taste is candy-sugar-orange, caramel malt, orange-peel. Light and airy, with a pleasant increasing peel-leafy bitterness. very good.

Bottle. Orange, sugar, toffee malt, and orange peel aroma. Hazy amber with giant off-white head. Lightly sweet citrus, buttery toffee malt, and moderately bitter orange peel flavor. Good body. Interesting hybrid.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 10/15/2015. Pours moderately hazy/cloudy deep orange/copper color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of grapefruit, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, pepper, pine, caramel, brown sugar, wheat, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/earthy hops and dark/bready malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big grapefruit, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, pepper, pine, caramel, brown sugar, wheat, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate amount of piney/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, pineapple, lemon/orange peel, pepper, pine, caramel, brown sugar, wheat, toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/earthy hops and dark/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Moderate amount of dryness from bitterness as well. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and moderately creamy/bready/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice hoppy dark wheat ale style. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/earthy hops and dark/bready malt flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Draft at Crunchy’s, East Lansing. Slightly hazy orange-copper body, thin ring of creamy carbonation. Light grassy, fruity nose. Grassy, biscuity, slightly nutty body with light sweetness and hints of alcohol. Rather dry.
