In 1981 Moerlein's Select Lager paved the way for craft beers as one of the first craft lagers in the USA. With a blend of Vienna and select specialty malts, this copper colored lager is brewed to pay homage to Moerlein's Original Lager of the 1850s. Can from kroger. in northern kentucky on route 71. Pour is clear orangish yellow. Smell is a little perfumy sweet. Some co2. Goes down very easy, not as sweet as expected. Gentle and a little bit civilized fer sher. VI was expecting something more like a hellis from the look but this stuff is more like a gentle dark lager in taste. As a lager lover, I'm pleasantly surprised. Decent stuff.

Grainy barley malt and straw. Dark amber with small head. Moderately sweet corn syrup, barley malt, and moderately bitter/astringent fresh hay flavor. Okay body. A bit too sweet.
