12 ounce can from a Kroger in Bucyrus, OH. Dark brown, thin creamy tan head, fair retention. Aroma of maple and roast. Taste is toffee, maple, nuts, cherry. Medium bodied, high carbonation. Solid.

Can: Dark brown with a small tan head. Caramel, maple aroma. Taste is sweet, woody caramel malt, chocolate malt, maple. Very nice.

12 ounce can into pint glass, canned on 11/21/2016. Pours lightly hazy reddish copper/light brown color with a 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of caramel, maple, brown sugar, toffee, toasted biscuit, brown bread, chocolate, cocoa, herbal, wood, light nuttiness/dark fruit, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready/light roasted malt, maple, and light earthy hop/yeast ester notes; with solid strength. Taste of big caramel, maple, brown sugar, toffee, toasted biscuit, brown bread, chocolate, cocoa, herbal, wood, light nuttiness/dark fruit, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/spicy hop and roast bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, maple, brown sugar, toffee, toasted biscuit, brown bread, chocolate, cocoa, herbal, wood, light nuttiness/dark fruit, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready/light roasted malt, maple, and light earthy hop/yeast ester flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light dryness from hop/roast bitterness, lightly increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready, and lightly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6.2%. Overall this is a very nice American brown ale. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready/light roasted malt, maple, and light earthy hop/yeast ester flavors; very smooth and easy to drink. Surprisingly rich for the modest ABV, with a great presence of maple, and balancing hop character. A very enjoyable offering.

Sample at Daily Growler UA. Murky brown color with a thin tan head that recedes steadily to a film. Short strings of lacing. Aroma of roast malt, chocolate and a bit of hops. Medium body with flavors of chocolate malt, maple and a touch of earthy hop. The finish is sweet with a maple and malt aftertaste. Decent overall.
