Sampled on draft this beer poured a very dark brown color - almost black - with orange highlights and a medium sized foamy beige head that left minimal lacing. The aroma was dry and roasty with a coffee presence. The flavor was bitter and roasty with notes of wood, coffee and faint floral hops. Medium length finish. Medium body. Fairly solid.

Sample at the brewpub. The beer is dark brown, almost black with a medium thin light tan head that dissipates to an outer ring quickly. Stringy lacing. Roasted coffee and malt in the nose. Medium, dry body with roasted malt, coffee and semi-sweet chocolate flavors. The finish is roasted coffee with a mildly bitter aftertaste. Decent overall.
