Hoist your pints to the mutiny against gluten, and toast to Glutiny Golden Ale, our new uncompromised gluten-reduced beer designed for the discerning craft drinker. For this new year-round release, we dosed the beer with colorful Nugget, Goldings and Cascade hops, and then turned around and dry-hopped it again with Cascade, lending bright grapefruit and subtle herbal notes to the wash of bready-sweet malts; additions of oats adds a layer of smoothness to the mouthfeel. Finally, we used a special enzyme during the brewing process, which breaks down the gluten. The result is super sessionable, flavorful golden ale that starts sweet and finishes crisp. Ready to join the uprising? Taste the Glutiny.

Moderately pleasant surprise. Had a nice clean semi-sweet grainy malt profile, gently hopped, good tasting floral/citrus character. Balanced. Light, enjoyable, easy drinking, good with rich ramen soup, too.

12 ounce bottle from Whole Foods Charlottesville 2/28/16. Clear pale golden, medium sized fizzy off-white head, good retention. Aroma of doughy, buttery malt, mild floral notes. The taste is pale malt, nuts, apples, herbal hops. Medium bodied.

Pretty meh beer that is really good by the standards of gluten free beers. ++ Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a vibrant golden color with a huge foamy orange-white head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was sweetish and grainy with yeast, lemon and orange notes. The flavor was tart, tangy and citric with a yeasty and grainy undertone. Medium length finish. Medium body.

Bottle. Floral lemon malt and lemon peel aroma. Golden yellow with small head. Lightly sweet lemon biscuit malt and very mildly bitter hay flavor. Very light body. Not bad but not much there.

Bottle: Clear, bubbly gold with a frothy white head. Aroma is sort of reminiscent of Irish Spring soap......some lemon. Taste is grain, citrus.....and a little of that soapy note.... Doesn’t taste bad, but it’s certainly different.

12 ounce bottle into signature globe glass, best before 5/22/2016. Pours fairly crystal clear golden yellow color with a 2 finger dense and fluffy white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass, with fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, light pepper/pine, cracker, bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of bright citrus/earthy hops and moderate pale malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, light pepper/pine, cracker, bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light piney/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, light pepper/pine, cracker, bread, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a short bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of bright citrus/earthy hop and moderate pale malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Good amount of dryness as well. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly grainy/bready/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 5.2%. Overall this is a very nice blonde ale style. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of bright citrus/earthy hop and moderate pale malt flavors; and very smooth, crisp, and clean to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
