A real winter warmer! The rich and spiced flavor with a taste of dark chocolate and dried berries is created by the perfect amount of roasted caramel malt and a well-hidden hop bitterness for a smooth finish. Connoisseur recommendation: Especially enjoyed on a cold winter day with a rich hot pot of meat and vegetables.

Brown bottle from JR's. Pours a rather darker maroon brown. Nice creamy tan head. Slight malt nose. Decent co2, strong alky presence. Warming sensation sets in after the first few slugs. Ys, strong alky impact keeps rearing its head up, definitively a bock by character, maybe even a little more. I think l'm getting a little dizzy in the middle. Quite interesting but a little more personality than I care for.

Bottle from Total Wine, McLean. Dark reddish-brown. Sweet malt, some light spice. Dark fruit (raisin, prune type of thing), caramel, and some earth. Slightly sticky. Fairly full bodied. Decent, but a little too sticky, sweet, and boozy for me to want more than 1 in a sitting.

Good bock. it is a dunkler bock; the image above is notwhat the beer or the bottle now look like not. Medium sweet, some caramel, and lots of malt flavor. --- Beer merged from original tick of Doppelbock / Winter Spezial (2015-) on 18 Jan 2019 at 20:10 - Score: 7

Germany. Clear mahogany pour with a beige head and good retention. Color turns cloudy brown. Decent lacing. Good dark malt dominant flavor interrupted by a boozy finish. 8.4 ABV is somewhat hidden.

Pour is a murky brown with a large tan head. Aroma is a decent roasted nut with some molasses sweetness. Flavor is a nice helping of dark fruit and more of the thick molasses type malt. Leaves a nice raison juice on the tongue as this goes down. Pretty flavorful German winter warmer.

Bottle: Cloudy, dark brown, with a short, off-white head. Earthy, caramel, nutty aroma. Taste is rich, slightly bitter caramel malt, dried nuts. An herbal/earthy bittering. Tasty. Nice to drink a Winter Festbier that’s not totally consumed with spices for a change.

Bottle. Nutty toffee malt and astringent alcohol aroma. Dark amber with small head. Sweet nutty toffee malt and mildly bitter/astringent herbal hay and alcohol flavor. Nice body. Very good.
