A real winter warmer! The rich and spiced flavor with a taste of dark chocolate and dried berries is created by the perfect amount of roasted caramel malt and a well-hidden hop bitterness for a smooth finish. Connoisseur recommendation: Especially enjoyed on a cold winter day with a rich hot pot of meat and vegetables.

Sampled from a 12 oz green bottle this beer poured a dark nut brown with a bit of an orange hue and a large fluffy beige head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was sweet and malty with toffee and mild fruitiness. The flavor was sweet and toasty malts, tobacco, cola, toffee, dark fruits and a bit of bread. Nicely complex yet subdued. Medium length finish. Medium body and smooth. Pleasant.

330 ml bottle. 8.4% ABV. Dark copper color with a moderate fluffy beige head. Rich malty nose has notes of burnt caramel and prunes. Sweet toasted malt flavor has more burnt caramel and dark dried fruit notes. Resiny hops are subdued but noticeable. Nice alcohol warmth. Full,of flavor and complexity. Finishes with a nutty dark fruit character.

11.2oz bottle. $23.99 a case. First rate, assuming this was made for the US market. Filtered yellow-tan, thin white head above some actively rising carbonation bubbles. Classic pepper tinged noble hop aroma, a little more depth with the big, sweet malt bill. Perfectly balanced, this sort of wanders into Hellerbock territory, with it’s fruity undercurrents. Simple, straightforward, at times a little understated, but a great beer all the way, disturbingly better than most US examples of Lagers. Clean, full of finesse. Like a good version of the countless shitty Eastern European strongish Pale Lagers I’ve had.
