Bottle. Pours a clear orangish amber with an off-white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a nice gingerbread note to it with a decent amount of molasses and bread underlying. Flavor is a bit more subdued with a nice gingerbread note backed by molasses and some sweet grains.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a clear amber color with a medium sized fizzy tan head. Poor head retention. Aroma of big ginger and other spices. The taste is spices and earthy notes. Thin bodied, watery, lingering spice, low carbonation. Gingerbread “spice” is right. There is no hint here of breadiness or any balance really. Meh.

Refrigerated 12 oz. brown bottle poured into a glass. Pours light amber with small off white head. Aroma is ginger, medium body, medium/light carbonation, and nice lacing. Taste is gingerbread and some molasses. Not bad.

12 oz bottle. Aroma is very much like gingerbread, a lot like your average spiced ale, like a pumpkin beer without the pumpkin. Pours slightly hazy amber with a quickly collapsing small beige head. Flavor is sweet, spicy and savory with a touch of sour; lightly bitter in the finish. Thin-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel. Tasty brew that would be so much better with a fuller body.

Second gingerbread beer tonight (the other being Sam Adams Merry Maker). Part of their Brewmaster’s seasonal sampler for winter 2013-14. Pours a clean deep amber colour with a frothy warm cap, decent retention and some lace. Spicy nose with ginger, cinnamon, cloves and hints of red ale malts. Not much molasses in the taste, but light spices and caramel malts. Decent brew but the Sam Adams was way better (being stronger overall).
