Crafting delicious beer doesn’t start with ingredients. It starts with exploration. Back in the 90s, our constant need to experiment with culinary ingredients was considered heresy by some. But it was the passion and the constant trial and error that led to pure alchemy, and we began brewing with real fruit pulled from our brewpub kitchen. Made with sweet apricots, Aprihop blazed the trail as one of the first fruit-infused IPAs.
That ongoing journey continues today with Flesh & Blood IPA. We could save time and money by brewing with fruit extracts. But for us, authenticity counts. And when we say we brew with real fruit, we mean it.

Brewed with mouth-puckering lemon flesh, sweet orange peel and blood orange juice, Flesh & Blood balances the resinous hoppy characteristics of an American IPA with the explosive zesty fruitiness and subtle drying tartness of citrus to deliver a highly quaffable ale that’s incredibly unique and lovely to down the whole year round.

Pours a deep, reddish-copper, with mid-sized, lasting, pillowy head. Aroma is very grassy, with not much more of note. Flavor is bitter, with some citrus notes and a bit of hop bite. It’s got a lot of grass, too. I guess I’d have thought there’d be more citrus in this, given the name and ingredients.

Hazy amber beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light and minerally crisp. Thin malts, mildly sweet. Tangy blood orange, bitterish peel and mild marmalade. Modest pine and a trace of lemon. Light semi dry finish. Decent.

12 oz can. Pours a rich orange/copper color with moderate head that settles quickly. Aromas of bitter orange peel, sweet toasted malts, resin, and pine. Flavors of bland lemony citrus, dry toasted malts, and bitter pine. Expecting more in the flavor department...

Strange that an IPA with such a citrus-heavy recipe never comes off all that citric. Starts mildly sweet, with a strong, almost cloying honey-caramel sweetness, then offers modest notes of tart blood orange and lemon. Yet the malts stay the dominant element, and the hops mainly give up a medicinal, somewhat unpleasantly bitter finish, leading to a lengthy, citrus-tinged fade. Not great.

355ml bottle. Clear, brown-ish, dark amber colour with small to average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Citrusy aroma, hints of blood orange and orange zest, caramel malty background, cautious earthy and sweaty aspects in the blood orange profile. Taste is slightly tart citrusy fruity, moderately bitter hoppy, caramel malty background, notes of blood orange, hints of grapefruit; lasting citrusy bitter finish.

Can. Pours a clear coppery orange with a quickly fading head. Aromas are of oranges and citrus with a hint of pepper. (It has me wondering if my sniffer is working well.) Flavor is mostly oranges and caramel malts... at times I think \"this is too orangey\" and then at other times I think \"mmmm.\" It’s pretty well balanced and the juiciness of it all is pretty impressive.
