Reviewed from notes.
The appearance was a soft dark brown close to black color with a fingers worth of white to off white foamy head that slid off at a moderate pace. Sliding lace.
The aroma had some milk chocolate, grains/cereals, some earthiness, and a touch of woodiness.
The flavor was semi-sweet with a sturdy embracing bitterness from the wood flowing in for the blend. Aftertaste was semi-bitter with the sweetness from the chocolate. Not much of a finish.
The palate was between light and medium bodied with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt fine.
Overall, seemed more like one of those Euro dark lagers than a real schwarzbier, still, its nothing bad, just dont expect to get an authentic German schwarzbier.

Draft. Chocolate malt aroma. Chestnut brown with small head. Lightly sweet milk chocolate malt and straw flavor. Not bad.

tap at the brewpub - Pours very dark brown with a thin tan head. It has a roast coffee and malt aroma. The flavor is much the same with a touch of fruit. It’s medium to full-bodied and finishes with a little bitterness. Very nice.

on nitro-pours a rich light brown head and dark brown with red color. Aroma is funky/off-maybe chemical, cocoa powder, dusty. Taste is funky/off, coffee grounds, cocoa powder, faint earthy hops.
