Gringolandia is an affectionate term used by many Latinos to refer to the United States. We’re using the term to paint a picture of our collective 5 Rabbit experience as a Latin-based company in the exciting melting pot that is 21st century Chicagoland, and to brew beers that reflect that experience. It’s our tribute to the American craft beer movement. After staking out our Latin credentials with several exciting, ingredient-based beers in the “5″ series, we felt it was time to expand our range. These beers are our own interpretations of some popular craft beer styles, changed up a little to make them our own distinct beers different from anyone else’s. Super Pils is a classic pilsner character in a big, bold beer that drinks like an IPA. Euro-pils character, but bolder. Cool-fermented with our house ale yeast for a clean, smooth flavor with just the barest hint of fruitines. Perfect balance of malt and hops in classic pils fashion—just stronger. Unfiltered for better body and foam.

Single bottle from Binny’s, bought in May. Poured in a tall lager glass. Pours with a big head that leaves some sudsy foam behind, iver a deeper yellow body than most. Smell is that warm nostalgic smell of the way your first beer tasted, maybe sipped in a bowling alley when dad wasn’t looking. Just a tad grainy and restrained in sweetness. Taste is a nice pilsener, or maybe more of a Dortmunder taste: dry malts with little sweetness, slightly prickly bubbles and a note of pepper from German (I believe) hops. A comforting reminder of how beer used to taste before we knew better.

Location: Draft at The Gage, Independence Day 2014

Aroma: The nose is fruity, with some pilsener malts, a bit of yeast, and some spice
Appearance: It pours a hazed yellow color with a nice, creamy head on it
Flavor: The flavor is along the same line, balanced with fruit, lager yeast, and some spice
Palate: The body is medium-plus, it has a decent mouthfeel, and a soft carbonation
Overall Impression: I thought this one was solid. I can't too much higher than that though, but there's nothing wrong with enjoying a nice, solid beer.

Bottle. Lemon malt and astringent alcohol aroma. Pale yellow with small head. Lightly sweet lemon and barley malt flavor. Hint of alcohol in finish. Luckily the alcohol isn’t as dominate in the flavor as the aroma.

12oz bottle. This is sort of as expected. For a style like this even some slightly slick and tick malts interfere. The alcohol could be particularly off putting. This beer is minimal in all these characteristics but that gets in the way of truly enjoying this beer.
