On tap at Blend Bar & Bistro. Dense dark brown color. Small creamy tan head. Big roasted malt nose with notes of nutmeg and cinnamon. Roasted malt flavor has all the fall spices. Not overly done though. Yams and Maple come through in middle. Full bodied and rich with woody notes in finish. Tasty!

750 ml bottle into snifter, bottled on 7/18/2017. Pours nearly opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of huge cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, peppercorn, allspice, yams, caramel, brown sugar, maple syrup, chocolate, cocoa, and toasted dark/brown breads; with lighter notes of coffee, smoke, vanilla, raisin, plum, fig, pear, apple, herbal, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of spices, yams, dark/roast/bready malt, and spicy/light fruity yeast notes; with great strength. Taste of huge cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, peppercorn, allspice, yams, caramel, brown sugar, maple syrup, chocolate, cocoa, and toasted dark/brown breads; with lighter notes of coffee, smoke, vanilla, raisin, plum, fig, pear, apple, herbal, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate peppery yeast spiciness and mild herbal/roast bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, peppercorn, allspice, yams, caramel, brown sugar, maple syrup, chocolate, cocoa, toasted dark/brown bread, light dark fruit, herbal, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of spices, yams, dark/roast/bready malt, and spicy/light fruity yeast flavors; with a great malt/spiciness balance, and zero acrid/astringent roast/spice flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from bitter/spiciness and carbonation. Medium-high carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready/grainy/sticky, and slightly chalky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 9%. Overall this is an excellent fruit/spiced imperial stout. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of spices, yams, dark/roast/bready malt, and spicy/light fruity yeast flavors; very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV, with the balanced spicy/drying finish. A very unique variation on the base beer. Definitely more spice heavy and less slick/dark on malt sweetness. Not as dense on body. More spicy and less fruity on the Belgian yeast. Doesn't totally feel like a true imperial stout; but you get nice clean chocolate/cocoa roast flavors from the Midnight wheat, with great balance of the spices/yams. A very enjoyable offering.
