For centuries Munich’s favorite bier. Dunkel translates to “Dark” lager. It is medium bodied, easy to drink, with simple roasted malt flavor and slight caramel undertones.

50cl bottle from Cantina della Birra, Riccione, Italy. Pours a beautiful malty brown, with fine cream foam. Aroma is malty, caramel. Body and carbonation are average. Taste is mildly sweet. Final is average.

Identical to the one in Pittsburgh. Pours amber, aroma is nice caramel malt, light body, low carbonation, and small bubble lacing. Taste is slightly off caramel malt and some herbal hops. The worst of the bunch.

Deep clear brown color with a small off-white head. Nutty malt aroma. The flavor is lightly sweet, but there’s a chalky finish that combined with a body that is a bit thin, holds this one back compared to the other offerings they brew.

Dark brownish-orange with a medium off-white head. Thin lacing. Aroma of malt and caramel is pretty good. Sweet malt flavor throughout. The finish is lightly sweet and roasty and is almost satisfying. This is not what I would think is the best example of a Dunkel but it is a drinkable beer.
