Bad Tom Smith was a felon and a murderer. He confessed to the killing of six men as he awaited his fate at the gallows, telling the gathering crowd that “bad whiskey and bad women have brought me where I am”. That being said, we hope to do penance for his crimes by making good beer for all the bad whiskey Bad Tom drank. This includes our flagship beer. Deep within this dark liquid lies the essence of a brown ale: a malty, sweet backbone surrounded by notes of nuttiness and caramel, with just a hint of chocolate. Low hop bitterness balances out the rich body to create a solid, impressionable American brown.

Sample at Daily Growler UA during the "Great Lakes Tap Invasion" on 07/10/2014. Cloudy dark brown color with a medium beige head that dissipates steadily to an outer ring. Strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, hops and caramel. Light-bodied with flavors of bready malt, caramel and mild hops. The finish is sweet with a short caramel malt aftertaste. Decent overall.

Draft at Cincy Beerfest: Cloudy, reddish amber with a light tan head. Aroma is slightly candied, a hint of nuts.... Berry....reminiscent of Strawberry Quik. Taste is much the same..sweet, soft, malty... Different.
