12oz bottle pours with a clear copper body that supports a thin off white head of foam. The aroma is big near bruising with pine hop bigness and running quickly into sweet malts and a light bread dough sensation. Alright. The taste has robust bursting levels of pine hoppiness to go along with a pleasing mix of sweet malts, pine hop flavor and full up resiny hop bitterness. Damn. This beer doesn’t mess around and achieves depth, balance and richness.

Pours nearly clear, amber-orange with a short, off-white head. Sweet grapefruit, tropical fruit aroma. Taste is peppery orange/pineapple....caramel. Slight alcohol bittering.

Bottle. Cloudy, deep amber body. Off-white, frothy head. Inviting citrus aroma of orange juice, passion fruit, cotton candy, toasted grain. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, velvety texture, soft carbonation. A bit unclean in the mouth with remnants of raw grain in the finish. Balance tips toward the sweet side, especially for a double IPA. This is close with a promising aroma, but the flavor doesn’t quite follow through.

tap at Black Acre brewpub last fall - Pours lightly hazy orange with a lasting off-white head that laces well. It has a big orange and grapefruit aroma. The flavor is also full of citrus, especially oranges, with strong, tasty bitterness that lingers pleasantly on the palate. Very good.
