Amber Ales are mostly an American invention. And with its beautiful copper color and subtle hop aroma, our Redwood Flats Amber is our traditional take on a modern American classic. Featuring a unique blend of American hops and malts, Redwood Flats Amber is bold and assertive, with a strongly hoppy flavor that’s easy to drink and even easier to love.

Bottle. Buttery toffee malt aroma. Amber with small head. Mildly sweet toffee malt and bitter herbal hops flavor. Not horrible but not a fan of the flavor combination.

Location: 12 oz bottle from State Line, 11/25/12

Aroma: The nose is malty, with some caramel, a little butter, nuts, earth, and some crystal malts
Appearance: It pours a clear amber color with a small off-white head, and some streaky lace
Flavor: it starts malty, but gets kind of buttery quickly, and has some off hay-like hop bitterness
Palate: The body is light-medium, it does not have a great mouthfeel, and the finish is a touch off too
Overall Impression: I was not a huge fan of this one. Though it has some decent components to the early parts of the palate, the middle and late palates both have a lot off about them, and that leaves a somewhat unpleasant lasting impression.

12oz bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a dark amber/light orange with about 3 fingers of frothy off-white head. Aroma of pine and citrus with a hint of pear and some caramel. Taste is light bitter. Weak caramel with a bit of herbal hops. Light bodied with a somewhat thin texture. Lively carbonation and a decently long finish. Overall, not bad. I would drink it again but wouldn’t seek it out.

Hey, I thought I had this before, guess not. From a bottle with a twist off cap. Looks clear and somewhat copper in color. Smell is waffing alarming malts. Thin creamy head. Yez, malt carries over to the flavor but it is not over the top. Tries to be assertive but then falls back behing the malts. Goes down fairly easy and never really gets in your face. Better than expected. Probably would appeal to many lager lovers. Well behaved with a gentlemans touch. Overall, not bad. Most likely one of the better ambers I’ve tasted. Nice sizzle on the palate. Pretty good but not as good as North Peak Siren Amber Ale, Olde Main Long Face, Atlanta Laughing Skull Amber Ale (2009 - present), or McKenzie Unicorn Amber Ale

12 ounce bottle from a Kroger. Pours a crystal clear amber color with a large frothy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of caramel malts, floral hops and a salty note, almost like potato chips. The taste is caramel malts, nutty notes and a bitter herbal, citrus hop finish. Medium bodied, lingering bitterness. Decent.

Orange amber color with a small white head. Taste is a blend of malts, caramel, hops, and sugary. The downfall of this beer may be the heavy presence of sweetness. Finish is not as clean as an amber should be.
