Rathskeller Amber is a smooth, malty American Amber Ale. It has a rich caramel malt character that is balanced by German Noble Hops. It is brewed exclusively for the Rathskeller Restaurant, which is Indianapolis’ premier German Restaurant and Beer Hall.

Sampled at the Rathskeller in downtown Indianapolis. Extra points since this is my favorite establishment.

Growler: Pours almost clear, very dark amber with a full, tan head. Aroma is caramel, baked bread. Taste is sweet, malty caramel. Pretty simple, but quite tasty.

On draught at the Rathskeller in Indy. Pours a clear dark amber color with a medium off-white head that diminishes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Caramel malt and hops in the nose. Light-bodied with a toasted malt character and notes of caramel and mild hops. The finish is short and sweet with a malt aftertaste. Pretty straightforward Amber but worth trying just to see the awesome Rathskeller.

Tap at the Rathskeller. Caramel malt and hay aroma. Dark orange-brown color with small head. Slightly sweet toffee malt and lightly bitter herbal hops flavor. Okay - strange choice for a German restaurant.
