12oz shorty bottle. Faint hiss when opened. Just barely carbonated...bad seal job. Hazy and unfiltered, which is counter-intuitive regarding the Helles style. A nice pleasant earthy noble hop aroma. This is a nice countryside Lager, makes me think of Landbier or Kellerbier more than a Helles. Has that green bohemian feel I want in the style, but not the perfect body, mouthfeel. I’m sure this is quite nice on tap, fresh at the brewery.

bottle - Pours almost clear gold with a minimal head. It has a bready, lightly fruity malt aroma. The flavor is sweet and bready with very mild hops, a light to medium body, and a little bitterness in the finish. It’s decent and balanced.

Sample at the 1st annual Columbus Beerfest on 05/28/10: The beer is a cloudy orange-gold color with a medium thick and fizzy white head that evaporates steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Grassy hops and sweet malt in the nose. Light body with flavors of hops, hay, toasted malt and a touch of fruit. The finish is fruity with a mild hops aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.
