The lower gravity cousin to Rochefort 10. Nicknamed "Spéciale" (’The Special’), this beer is the most recent production. The Rochefort 8 has a more tawny colour and a more pronounced aroma, with an even richer fruitiness (a slight undertone of fig?) and a little more spiced dryness, like that of a cake, which gives a balanced finish to the final notes.

Review based on the BJCP2008 guidelines (style 18E). Bottle 33 cl - Batch 15:32:21 AROMA: spicy alcohol aroma with notes of dried cherries, supported by a caramelised sweet malt note. APPEARANCE: light brown color and hazy. average moussy, beige head with good retention and lacing. TASTE: similar to the aromas but less pronounced. spicy notes, some caramel and dried cherries and faint figs. low bitterness with a sweet finish. PALATE: high carbonation with medium-light body. alcohol warmth noticeable. OVERALL: a less intense authentic trappist ale.
