The embodiment of Black Sheep: quality ingredients brewed in a unique way – distinct flavour characteristics come from our now-rare Yorkshire Square fermenting vessels. Malt character leads with sweet biscuit and caramel, complementing fruity raisin and pear drop notes from our house yeast. Goldings hops finish off the fruitcake-like flavours with hints of earthy bitter orange. Complex, balanced and incredibly drinkable.

Clear deep amber colour, small frothy off-white head, mostly lasting, fair lacing. Aroma sweet malt, caramel, bit toasted, yeast, grass. Taste medium bitter, light sweet, malty, earthy. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation, dry bitter aftertaste, earthy notes, bit spicy, decent bitter.

Bottle at Ale Alpharetta. Clear caramel color, with a thin off-white head. Nose of butterscotch, peanut, light black pepper, and some grass and herbs. Sweet, with a mellow, tasty bitterness. Medium body, sticky, and clingy. Overall, this is a nice, mellow, drinkable beer.

Lovely amberish color with a fine off white head. Ok lacing down the glass. Moderate sweet aroma with a nice hoppy note. An refreshing and fine flavor. Moderate caramel, some toffee, mild fruity and a fine hoppy touch. Nice one!

Hellbraune Farbe, roter Einschlag, leichter weißgrauer Schaum. Der Antrunk ist vollmundig-malzig. Trocken und Ale-typisch. Zum Hauptteil kommt die Ale-typische und malzige Note noch deutlicher hervor, tolle erdige Töne, die toll harmonieren. Ganz ganz leicht Säure. Der Nachgeschmack ist sehr lang, toll-erdig-herb. Trocken mit toller typischer Ale-Note! 14/13/15/14

500 ml bottle into pint glass, L31 bottle code. Pours slightly hazy deep orange/copper color with a 1-2 finger dense and fluffy off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of caramel, toast, brown bread, light nuttiness, herbal, grass, light pepper, light pear/apple, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with well balanced dark/bready malt, earthy hop, and yeast ester notes; with good strength. Taste of caramel, toast, brown bread, nuttiness, herbal, grass, light pepper, light pear/apple, and yeast earthiness. Light earthy herbal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, brown bread, nuttiness, herbal, grass, light pepper, light pear/apple, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice robustness and balance of dark/bready malt, earthy hops, and yeast ester notes; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Quite restrained on yeast fruitiness which was surprising. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, crisp, and lightly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish as expected of 4.4%. Overall this is an excellent English bitter style. All around great robustness and balance of dark/bready malt, earthy hops, and yeast ester flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
