Tap. Unclear golden color with white head. Aroma is big esters, apricot and peach. Taste is fruity, very fruity, apricot and peach mostly, with classic Belgian esters on top, pretty tart in the back. Soft oily mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Good one!

Bottle, by way of a trade. Shared down SMOD on Christmas Eve. Obvs. Hazed pale amber. Decent off white head. Nose has red wine dregs. Pineapple. Hint of balsamic. Dried fruit. Touch of brett. Hint of vanilla. Lots going on. Taste is tart and bittersweet. Really easy drinking at the ABV. Light and clean in fact. Tart red wine to finish. Really good, but lacked the complexity I was hoping for. Maybe my fault. Anyway it got flopped.

750mL bottle drunk 8/2/21. Found this one on the shelf, so oxidation is going to be heavy. And indeed, in the nose, it is. Deep, strong, rich, copper color with a quickly fading, white head. Caramel, madeira-like oxidation and strong yeast presence giving heavy fruitiness, earth and strong mineral. Not as much red wine-like clarity as the 2000 version and even less oxidation, though I guess the 2000 bottle we had was cared for better? Orange candy, citrus, rich candi sugar and no alcohol or flaw. Still smells good, just obviously a bit oxidized. In the mouth it's soft, malty, pretty well-attenuated, but with ample residual sugar for decadence. Red wine is light, adding gentle acidity while candi sugar/caramel is strong/dominant. It remains sweet but with enough acidity throughout that despite its oxidation it's still enjoyable in a candi-like barleywine sort of way.
