Bottle: Clear, deep ruby-amber coloured, smaller and slowly collapsing off-white foamy layer; moderate - but distinctive - roasty-ashy aromas in the bitter-sweet caramelly and fruity nose, traces of chocolate included; moderate sweet-bitter flavour with the usual certain acidity, nearly medium bodied and pretty soft; drier caramelly and roasty-bitter finish. Complex and pleasant Porter...

Cask at the Bootlegger, High Wycombe. A pitch black pour with tight cream head; rich earthy chocolate aroma; bittersweet taste with chocolate and coffee grounds; then a lengthy warming bitterness; and a touch of caramel to finish. A complex and interesting dark beer.
