India Pale Ale first made its name in the 19th century. Here's hoping our pioneering IPA can make its mark too.
Its fervent hoppy character hails from the unique addition of large quantities of hops at three separate points during brewing. The result is a beer that's rounded yet refreshing, with delicate floral notes and oodles of zesty freshness.
Malt: I & G Ale Malt & Wheat
Hops: Goldings & Styrian Goldings
Maturation: Lightly toasted American oak heartwood in our Oakerators®

Bottle from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours brassy gold with a slight white head. Aroma is mildly floral. Perhaps a hint of caramel beneath. Med body. Flavor is floral, vanilla, caramel. With time there seems to be some oak astringency, but it’s not all that dry, and any bitter seems to be from the wood. Still I’m liking it.

Pours gold into a snifter. Bright white head with medium retention recedes to skim surface. Oak and vanilla aromas. Soft with caramel and oak upfront turning to mild earthy sweet oak and resin in the lasting finish.

330ml bottle many thanks to Finn. Clear dark golden body to a mostly diminishing white head leaving lacing rings down the glass. Smell of dry lemon and vanilla sweetness. Vanilla oak-like taste joined by butter and honey offset by lemony hops towards the ending. Soft carbonated and clean in the mouth, quite well bodied. Not bad at all (Tromsø 10.05. 2014).

I enjoyed the cask version at a Spoons festival once, so thought I’d try the bottle: not so good. Brown 330ml bottle on 9th May 2014. Poured into a Gordon’s thistle glass at home. Lager gold in colour with a snowy white head. Slight wood undertone that seemed like a lager based hoppy brew with an extra dollop of alcohol thrown in, not overly impressed.

Flaske 0,33l fra Alko Muonio. Drukket i Skibotn 14 Apr 14. Gyldenbrun. Lavt skum. Forsiktig fruktaroma med innslag av tre. Smaken hverken fugl eller fisk. Litt tre. Litt frukt. Svakt syrlig etter hvert.

Bottle from Waitrose and drunk at home. Clear gold colour huge white coloured head. Pasteurised-like toffee aroma. It’s terrible. A woody concoction of awfulness. Too sweet. Too oily. Some hop bitterness. It’s just not my kind of drink at all.

0,33L bottle, BB 02.2015. Pours clear golden with white head. The head stays for a moment. Aroma is puke, citrus, grass, and vanilla. Taste is light, sweet, citrus, vanilla, and pine bitterness. Finish is fruity and mild pine. Overall: was expecting a lot worse, but it’s ok.

Keg at the Old Beefeater Inn, Gotebor, 21/03/14. Lightly hazed golden with a moderate off white covering. Nose is popcorn, light bourbon notes, corn, grain, vanilla essence. Taste comprises mellow fruit tones, more vanilla, butterscotch, light bourbon traces, woody twang, fruit rind. Medium bodied, fine carbontion, semi drying close. Ok stuff.
