Wild Saison

This vibrant, bright, rose-colored saison is full of floral & spice notes mixed with hints of tartness from the foeder aging & hibiscus flowers. It is a unique creation brewed with rose hips, rose petals, & hibiscus, giving this saison a character & color all its own. A beautiful piece of art presented in a glass.

Keg at Mikkeller Bar, Copenhagen. Cloudy amber, rich head. Mild lactic citric nose with some lillies. Light malt sweetness masked by citric tartness. Medium bodied with rounded mouthfeel. Mellow bready malt, floral and lightly perfumy. Low bitterness. Quite subtle.

Bottle thanks to Will. Pours a cloudy pink orange with thick white head leaving sticky lacing. The aroma is funk, yeast and hibiscus. Light fruit and funk, nice dry finish, very good.

Bottle, 6.8%. Violent gusher. Very citric aroma, lactic and quite funky. Red wine notes, very complex. Hazy amber colour. Small off-white head. The flavour is not as extreme as the aroma, but nice and powerful. There is a good acid, slightly sharp, but not extreme. Some funk and notes of red vinaigre. Fruity sourness. Not what I would call a saison, more like a sour, but good nonetheless.

Bottle @ Rowdy Rebel Revel, Sønderborg. Pours hazy dark amber with rocky, airy but stable off-white head. Clear, vinous aroma with estery notes and malty and hoppy touches. Vinous and hoppy flavour with notes of fruit and malt. Hints of pumpkin and dust. Lingering, sourish aftertaste with bitter and estery hints. Well-balanced and enjoyable.

This beer is a bright reddish-orange color with a thick white head that diminishes gradually. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of fruit, florals and yeast. Medium body with flavors of fruity yeast, hibiscus and biscuit malt. The finish is floral and fruity with an herbal yeast aftertaste. Pretty good all around.
