True to style, we ferment our Hefe Weiss with a German yeast culture. Don’t be put off by the cloudy appearance that comes from course-filtering—that’s a sign of a Bavarian-style wheat ale. Relax and appreciate the immense creamy head resting atop this lightly hopped ale. Take a sip of refreshing spice, hints of citrus and tropical fruit. The addition of wheat malt creates a mouthfeel smooth as a warm summer breeze.

Pours hazy orange/amber with a fluffy white head. Aroma of orange. Taste has lots of coriander, more orange, yeasty base. Palate has light spice, loads of coriander. Refreshing.

16 ounce bottle into weizen glass, bottled on 8/16/2012. Pours very hazy golden orange color with a 1 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of ripe banana, pear, apricot, apple, orange peel, clove, wheat, honey, bread, light bubblegum, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of malt, and fruity/earthy yeast ester notes; with solid strength. Taste of ripe banana, pear, apricot, apple, orange peel, wheat, honey, bread, clove, light bubblegum, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of banana, pear, apricot, apple, orange peel, wheat, honey, bread, light clove, light bubblegum, herbal, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice and pleasant complexity and robustness of malt and fruity/earthy yeast ester flavors; with a good malt/yeast flavor balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, crisp, and lightly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 4.2%. Overall this is a nice hefeweizen. Good balance and complexity of malt and fruity/earthy yeast flavors; with good robustness for the ABV and very smooth drinking. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Pours a slightly cloudy yellow color with a medium fluffy white head that evaporates slowly. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrus and wheat. Light body with flavors of banana, sweet spice and a bit of grassy hops. The finish is sweet with a short fruity aftertaste. Pretty average overall.

Bottle. Beer of the month club. Cloudy yellowish orange with a medium white head. Spicy estery aroma with clove, some banana, some vanilla, citric hints and bready notes. Fruity wheaty flavor, pretty crisp, with light sweetness, sourish touches, lemony notes and a drier spicy finish. Medium-bodied. A decent refreshing Hefeweizen.

16 ounce bottle from State Line. Pours a slightly hazy yellow color with a medium sized fizzy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of wheat, apples, herbal notes and faint bubblegum. The taste is tart wheat, apples and herbal notes. Very herbal and spicy... like Mexican food. Thin bodied, high carbonation. This isn’t really bad or good. Truly an odd beast.

Purchased at Breeze Thru Liquors in Milwaukee, WI; enjoyed during week 1 of the NFL season after running in the hot Chicago Half Marathon this morning. Appearance a rather cloudy vibrant orange with a thin white head that rims around the glass. Aroma mostly subdued, mainly of clove and German yeast. Taste is pretty carbonated for a hefe, not really smooth or crisp, but still has the classic Weiss elements of clove and a touch of citrus. It’s not bad but there are definitely better Weiss beers out there.

On tap. Poured a hazy gold with a white head that dissipated quickly to the edges. Aroma was quite sweet with wheat and grain coming through with some underlying spice and citrus. Flavor had citrus and spice notes that balanced nicely with the sweet wheat and grain notes.
