With the help of British Airways cabin crew, BrewDog founders Martin Dickie and James Watt, started the brewing process of this limited run beer on board one of the airline’s Boeing 787 Dreamliners, while cruising 500mph over the north of Scotland.

The expert brewers mixed water, hops and barley in the onboard beverage makers to start the mashing part of the brewing process.

Cans of the bespoke IPA, named Speedbird 100 after the airline’s call sign, will be exclusively available to British Airways customers on board all long-haul and short-haul flights and in selected lounges from 1 May.

(Can - on BA flight) Pours clear golden big short-lived off-white head. Subtle caramel aroma with notes of orangey citrus and floral hints. Medium body with good carbonation. Plenty of hops giving nice tangy start and gentle bitterness throughout. Pleasant subtle caramel malt in the background. Very drinkable.

Can in the North lounge at LHR T5, 24/09/23. Clear golden with a good sized lasting white head. Nose is tangerine, soft malts, grass, citric tinged straw. Taste comprises orange peel, grass, light malt base, toasted grains, lemon nip. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with muted hop bitterness. Rather pedestrian and glad to only have paid for this indirectly.

Can from BrewDog online shoppe. It pours clear amber - copper with a thick, fluffy white head. The aroma is fairly muted, bready malt, digestive biscuit, touch of sappy pine and floral accents. The taste is dry, pleasing bitterness, pine needles, sappy, resinous, green, bready malt, digestive biscuit, pithy, zesty, grapefruit and just a touch of spice with a drying finish. Average body and moderate carbonation. Simple stuff, bit a huge amount of hop character.
