16 ounce can into lager glass, no can dating. Pours slightly hazy pale golden yellow color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of lemon, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, wood, peppercorn, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. A bit too fruity/yeasty DMS aromas, but not overwhelming. Nice aromas with good balance of pale malts and earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of lemon, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, wood, peppercorn, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of lemon, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, wood, peppercorn, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice robustness and balance of pale malts and earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and no lingering hop astringency after the finish. Fairly crisp/clean finishing. Nicely clean on lager flavors, not overly fruity/yeasty. Moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness and carbonation. Medium-plus carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy/sticky, and fairly resinous mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.1%. Overall this is a very good German pilsner. All around nice robustness and balance of pale malts and earthy hop flavors; very smooth and fairly crisp/refreshing to drink with the moderately bitter/drying finish; not overly aggressive. Very flavorful and not watery for the ABV. Nice pils malt showcase, with balanced noble hops. Minimal residual sweetness with crisp dryness. A very enjoyable offering, and good style example. Just wish it was cleaner, with a lot lower fruity/DMS notes.
