12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours fairly hazy deep ruby red/orange/pink/purple color with a 2-3 finger fairly foamy and fluffy pink head great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a large amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big sour/tart/tangy black currants, fruit skin/seed, lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, peach, plum, pear, apricot, melon, red/green apple, red grape/wine, oak, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, and white bread; with lighter notes of peppercorn, leathery/musty/lacto funk, red wine vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of black currants, fruity/funky/acidic yeast, oak barrels, and light-moderate pale/wheat malt notes; with big strength. Taste of big sour/tart/tangy black currants, fruit skin/seed, lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, peach, plum, pear, apricot, melon, red/green apple, red grape/wine, oak, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, and white bread; with lighter notes of peppercorn, leathery/musty/lacto funk, red wine vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness. Moderate fruity/lactic tart/sourness, fruit tang, and yeast/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of sour/tart/tangy black currants, fruit skin/seed, lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, peach, plum, pear, apricot, melon, red/green apple, red grape/wine, oak, hay, straw, grass, peppercorn, leathery/musty/lacto funk, red wine vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of black currants, fruity/funky/acidic yeast, oak barrels, and light-moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; with a solid malt/tart/sourness, and tangy fruit balance. Mild lingering pucker/astringency. Moderately crisp finishing. Moderate increasing dryness from lingering tart/sourness, tangy fruit, and carbonation. High carbonation and light body; with a very smooth and moderately grainy/acidic/tangy/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.2%. Overall this is an awesome session fruited sour/wild ale. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of black currants, fruity/funky/acidic yeast, oak barrels, and light-moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, and pretty refreshing to drink with the moderately acidic/tangy/tannic/drying finish. Very flavorful for the ABV, and not too overly lactic. Awesomely big jammy currants and balanced Brett/Bacteria complexity; with great oak presence, and solid malts against acidity. Zero residual sweetness with crisp dryness. A really enjoyable offering, and impressive style example.
