Got in a BIF from KMitch. 32 ounce crowler into tulip glass, filled on 10/2/2018. Pours lightly hazy medium golden yellow color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big tart/sour lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, peach, pear, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berries, red/green apple, white grape/wine, citrus peel/zest, hay, straw, herbal, floral, grass, wheat, cracker, white bread, light pepper/lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/acidic yeast, citrus/tropical hops, and moderate pale/wheat malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big tart/sour lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, peach, pear, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berries, red/green apple, white grape/wine, citrus peel/zest, hay, straw, herbal, floral, grass, wheat, cracker, white bread, light pepper/lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate lactic tartness; and light herbal, floral, grassy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, peach, pear, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berries, red/green apple, white grape/wine, citrus peel/zest, hay, straw, herbal, floral, grass, wheat, cracker, white bread, light pepper/lacto funk, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/acidic yeast, citrus/tropical hops, and moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; with an awesome malt/tartness balance, and no puckering flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from tartness and carbonation. Medium-high carbonation and light-medium carbonation; with a very smooth, moderately crisp, bready/grainy/acidic, and lightly sticky balanced mouthfeel that is fantastic. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5%. Overall this is a fantastic dry hopped kettle sour! All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/acidic yeast, citrus/tropical hops, and moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, and refreshing to drink with the modestly acidic/drying finish, not overly lactic. Wonderfully juicy Citra/Mosaic hops with light dankness; balanced Lacto complexity, and a nice pale/wheat malt backbone against acidity for the ABV. A highly enjoyable offering, and amazing style example. Carbonation levels were perfect, considering the crowler format.
