This recipe was created by our Brewer Kurt. Along with 400 pounds of pumpkin and 300 sweet potato he used a variety of specialty malts to keep your taste buds on an adventurous ride with each sip. You’ll find the roasty flavors are well balanced with pumpkin which gives it a very smooth character. Kurt also added pumpkin spice to this Porter to give it that amazing aroma and finish.

Got in a trade with The-Adjunct-Hippie. 12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 8/23/2017. Pours slightly hazy dark reddish brown color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toasted brown bread, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cardamom, clove, pumpkin, and sweet potatoes; with light notes of coffee, smoke, herbal, dark fruit, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, spices, pumpkin, sweet potato, and light fruity yeast/earthy hop notes; with great strength. Fairly strong on spice aromas, but not overpowering to the malt profile. Taste of milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toasted brown bread, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cardamom, clove, pumpkin, and sweet potatoes; with light notes of coffee, smoke, herbal, dark fruit, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/roast bitterness and pie spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toasted brown bread, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cardamom, clove, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, light coffee/smoke, herbal, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, spices, pumpkin, sweet potato, and light fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; with a nice malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and zero cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitter/spiciness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, and lightly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. A touch on the thin side, but still nice. Zero warming alcohol for 5.6%. Overall this is a delicious pumpkin porter. All around nice omplexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, spices, pumpkin, sweet potato, and light fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mildly bitter/spicy finish. Really well balanced porter malt complexity, spices, and pumpkin/potato flavors. Nothing overwhelming or feels out of place. A very enjoyable offering, and well made style example.

12oz bottle. Deep opaque brown-black with a big beige head. Smooth pumpkin pie aroma. More pumpkin than porter, this is heavily spiced. Fresh, no off flavors to speak of. Rich and sugary, but most of the malt flavors are really covered up by the pumpkin pie spices. A decent enough offering, but not as good as a lot of other dark pumpkin beers I’ve had.
