16 ounce can into pint glass, canned on 1/4/2018. Pours lightly hazy deep orange/amber color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and rocky off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of lightly tart/tangy blood orange, grapefruit, lemon, melon, citrus peel, wheat, cracker, toasted biscuit, light caramel, and herbal/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of blood orange, bready malts, and light-moderate citrus/earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of lightly tart/tangy blood orange, grapefruit, lemon, melon, citrus peel, wheat, cracker, toasted biscuit, light caramel, and herbal/grassy earthiness. Light herbal/grassy/citrus peel bitterness and fruit tang/tartness on the finish. Lingering notes of lightly tart/tangy blood orange, grapefruit, lemon, melon, citrus peel, wheat, cracker, toasted biscuit, light caramel, and herbal/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Nice robustness and balance of blood orange, bready malts, and light-moderate citrus/earthy hop flavors; with a good malt/bitter/tartness balance, and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitterness and fruit tang/tartness. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready, and lightly sticky/tangy/acidic mouthfeel that is good. Minimal warming alcohol for 7.1%. Overall this is a good fruit wheat. All around good robustness and balance of blood orange, bready malts, and light-moderate citrus/earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mildly bitter/tart/drying finish. This would have benefited being a lower ABV. This feels too heavy to me, and the malts start to overshadow the fruit presence. Still a nicely enjoyable offering as it stands.
