750 ml bottle into snifter; no bottle dating, but is a recent brewery only release. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 1 finger fairly dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toasted coconut, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, cream, toffee, fudge, marshmallow, bourbon, oak, and dark/brown bread; with light notes of molasses, licorice, dark fruit, smoke, and roast/toast/oaky earthiness. Some increasing booze in the aromas as it warms, but not overwhelming. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, coconut, and bourbon barrel notes; with great strength. Taste of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toasted coconut, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, cream, toffee, fudge, marshmallow, bourbon, oak, and dark/brown bread; with light notes of molasses, licorice, dark fruit, smoke, and roast/toast/oaky earthiness. Very mild roast bitterness and bourbon/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toasted coconut, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, cream, toffee, fudge, marshmallow, bourbon, oak, dark/brown bread, light molasses/dark fruit, and roast/toast/oaky earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, coconut, and bourbon barrel flavors; with an great roasted bitter/sweet and bourbon/oak spiciness balance; with zero cloying/acrid flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and very full body; with a very smooth, creamy, silky, velvety, and lightly slick mouthfeel that is fantastic. Minimal chalky roast, oak tannins, or dryness. Mild warmth of 11%, with zero barrel booziness lingering after the finish. Overall this is an amazing barrel aged imperial stout! All around incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, coconut, and bourbon barrel flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the huge ABV. Extremely rich and complex; perfectly balanced malts, coconut, and bourbon barrel integration. Never boozy, tannic, or drying. The coconut complements the barrels amazingly, as there is usually some sort of coconut note in regular BBA stouts. Never overwhelming or artificial feeling at all. Have some mild floaties in there as well. A highly enjoyable offering.
