12 ounce can into pint glass; no can dating, but is a recent local release. Pours slightly hazy deep reddish brown color with a 2 finger dense and rocky light khaki head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, cocoa, and coffee; with light notes of nuttiness, dark fruit, herbal, grass, pepper, and roast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt and light earthy hop notes; with solid strength. A bit fruity/yeasty, but not overwhelming. Taste of big caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, cocoa, and coffee; with light notes of nuttiness, herbal, grass, pepper, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/grassy/spicy hop and roast bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, cocoa, coffee, nuttiness, herbal, grass, pepper, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero acrid/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from hop/roast bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready/grainy, and lightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 5.9%. Overall this is a delicious English brown ale. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mellowly bitter/drying finish. Nicely rich classic brown ale malt complexity with balancing earthy hops, and not too roasty. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

Reviewed from notes.
The appearance was a sturdy brown color with a slight transparency about it. Hard to see through when it was held up to the light. Fingerโ€™s worth of white foamy head, gently subsided.
The aroma had some sweet to subtle roasted malts, light nuts, some caramel/toffee development. Some dried leafiness at the end.
The flavor blended the previously mentioned aromas together somewhat sweet with a fair dry after effect in the aftertaste, acceptable to me. Slightly roasty sort of finish.
The feel was about medium bodied with a decent sessionability about it. Good carbonation and the ABV felt fine.
Overall, pretty good brown ale worthy of having again.
