Named for the weight of their shot, the most common naval cannons were called "six pounders". At Heavy Seas, that means a six pack of crisp clean Pounder Pils.

Pounder at Capital One Arena for a Caps game. Poured a light golden color with a small white head. Aroma was a bit more bready and malty than I expected, but there's plenty of grassy hops and herbal Pils malt notes here. Pleasant, easy to drink at a sporting event given the other options available.

12 oz bottle from Beer of the Month Club. Clear golden-orange, white head, plenty of drippy lacework. Bright, zesty citrus and grass mostly, with some earth and spice notes. Lively, crisp feel. Fairly dry. Pretty good. Pleasantly surprised by both of these Heavy Seas beers. Haven't purchased much from them in recent years and the quality seems to have improved.

16 ounce can into lager glass, best before 11/29/2017. Pours slightly hazy medium golden yellow color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of lemon, orange peel, pepper, cracker, white bread, biscuit dough, and herbal/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of pale malt and earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of big lemon, orange peel, pepper, cracker, white bread, biscuit dough, and herbal/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate herbal, citrus peel, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of lemon, orange peel, pepper, cracker, white bread, biscuit dough, and herbal/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great robustness and balance of pale malt and earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero lingering hop astringency after the finish. Moderately crisp/clean finishing. Perfectly clean on lager flavors, with zero yeast notes present. Moderate increasing dryness from bitterness and carbonation. Medium-high carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth and bready/grainy/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is fantastic. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5%. Overall this is a delicious German pilsner! All around nice robustness and balance of pale malt and earthy hop flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink with the modestly bitter/drying finish. Perfectly balanced pils malt and noble hop flavors. Very flavorful and never watery feeling for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering and spot on style example.

Bottle. Clean clear pale yellow, fresh nose. Decent pils bite, nearing sharp bitter but never quite gets there. Pils bite increases and raises its hand near the middle. Good co2 as well, righ tto the end. Better than expected, was thinking it would be an over the top domestic wannah-bee of the old country but is fairly refreshing and civilized.
