Treebeard IPA was first released in 2016 and we're bringing it back as our first new beer of 2019! It is a deliciously dank Midwest-style IPA that blends flavors of mango, pineapple, orange, and woodsy qualities of Mosaic, Simcoe, and Comet hops. The pale Vienna and caramel malts provide a rich malt character, light biscuit finish, and pungent hoppiness.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 9/22/2017. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy medium orange/amber color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice thick soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big tangerine, grapefruit, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berry, lemon/orange zest, light pepper/pine, caramel, toasted biscuit, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical hops and moderate dark/bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big tangerine, grapefruit, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berry, lemon/orange zest, light pepper/pine, caramel, toasted biscuit, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of tangerine, grapefruit, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berry, lemon/orange zest, light pepper/pine, caramel, toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical hops and moderate dark/bready malt flavors; with an awesome malt/bitterness balance, and zero astringent hop flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/sticky, and slightly resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6.2%. Overall this an excellent IPA! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical hops and moderate dark/bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mellowly bitter/drying finish. Really spot on Midwest style IPA. Very juicy and dank hops; nice malty backbone, without being sweet/heavy feeling. A very enjoyable offering, loved the hop profile.
